United Way Hopes to 'Turn Up the Heat' With Fund-raising Thermometer

Dec. 22, 2006 – The United Way of St. Thomas-St. John has reached the halfway point in its 2007 fund-raising campaign, having raised $400,000 of its $800,000 goal. The St. Thomas community can track the ongoing campaign by viewing the United Way thermometer sign, located by the Fire Station adjacent to the Vendors Plaza.
According to a United Way release, donor giving in recent years has declined in proportion to declining dispensable household income. With that in mind, officials have urged the public to consider making Christmas donations to United Way in the name of a loved one or friend.
The United Way member agencies currently include: American Red Cross, Boy Scouts of America, Catholic Charities, Civil Air Patrol, Dial-A-Ride St. John, Dial-A-Ride St. Thomas, Ebenezer Gardens, Habitat for Humanity, Legal Services, Yellow Cedar Group Home, V.I. Institute for Teaching and Learning, Lutheran Reformation summer youth program, St. Thomas Reformed Church summer youth program.
For more information or to make a tax-deductible contribution, contact the office at 774-3185 online. Gifts may also be mailed to the United Way of St. Thomas-St. John at Nisky Center, Suite 220, St. Thomas, USVI 00802.
