Reader Responds To Anna Clarke's Open Forum About Supporting U.S. Troops

Dear Source,
I would like to applaud Ms. Clarke's poignant piece c/o Virgin Islands' Service Personnel. As a native of St. Thomas living abroad fro many years, and having spent the greater majority of those years on Active Duty, I think I am qualified in stating that many people just pay lip service to the Soldier's and don't really care one way or the other for the troops. This conflict which is now spreading throughout the entire middle east will have far reaching implications on all U.S. citizens, and not only in relation to petroleum. Many War Hawks on the "right wing" preach a great game while ostracizing many decorated veterans who now serve in the U.S. Senate/Congress. People wake up, the proof is in the pudding. Let us consider the "War administration cabinets" military background. Vice President, 5 deferments from Vietnam. Former Attorney General Ashcroft, 7 deferments, Karl Rove, don't even ask….. Has anyone considered how many Soldiers' returning from the war zone will need long-term mental health assistance? I know the mortality rate is considerably low for a long sustained conflict, but what about those still alive? People, wake up and really support the troops!
