VICARE Will Have HIV Testing Day June 27

June 26, 2006 – Virgin Islands Community AIDS Resource and Education Inc. encourages everyone to get tested on National HIV Testing Day.
VICARE will provide free and confidential testing from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., on Tuesday, June 27 at its office in Vitraco Mall. Test results will take a week or a little longer to come back. Several staff members will travel to various locations on St. Croix to reach out to the community and provide one-on-one dialogue.
The Virgin Islands has the third highest AIDS rates per capita and the highest HIV prevalence in the United States. While women have a very high rate of infection, other groups like MSM (men who have sex with men), intravenous drug users and sex workers also are at high risk. There is a crisis in the V. I., and it is imperative that you get tested as a first step in order to protect yourself.
