May 22, 2006 – Police are investigating the death of a 44-year-old man found at a beach in Frederiksted early Monday morning.
Shawna Richards, Public Relations manager for the V.I. Police Department, said that the victim was identified as Ray Edwards of Stony Ground, Frederiksted.
Richards said that a resident found and reported the incident to police at 5:55 a.m.
She said police officers found Edwards dead at the scene and that he had "died of his wounds."
Richard said Police are not at this time releasing whether Edwards died of gunshot or stab wounds.
This is St. Croix's eighth homicide of the year, the 14th for the territory.
She said that anyone with information is asked to contact the department's criminal investigation bureau and that any information received would be held in strict confidence.
