March 16, 2006 – Eleven elementary and middle/ junior high school students have qualified for participation in the 2006 Territorial Geography Bee Examination, which will be administered on Thursday, March 30.
The 11 students received accolades for their knowledge of World Geography from their various schools during oral competitions, and will, as a group, take the National Test to determine who will represent the territory in the National Geography Bee in Washington, D.C. in May, according to Social Studies Coordinator for St. Thomas-St. John District Annie Smith.
The students, who represent schools across the territory, are:
Colin Andryc – AZ Academy, St. Croix; Sean Marin – Country Day, St. Croix; Adian Dysart – St. John School on Gifft Hill; Corey Hanley – Addelita Cancryn Junior High School; Sigui Howard Magras – Bertha C. Boschulte Middle School; Jecoy Hawley -Joseph Gomez Elementary School;
Jamila Williams – Leonard Dober Elementary School; Vincente Donastorg – Peace Corps Elementary School; Olani Beltou – St. Thomas Christian Academy; Timothy Olive – Sts. Peter and Paul; and Natasha Norman – Ulla F. Muller Elementary School.
