Hovensa Makes Donation to United Way of St. Croix

Sept. 21, 2005 – Hovensa recently made a donation of $34,683 to the United Way of St. Croix, Inc. The donation fulfilled a pledge made by Hovensa to match the total amount of donations made by Hovensa employees during the United Way’s 2004-2005 fundraising drive. As a result of Hovensa’s matching donation, a total of $69,366 was donated to the United Way by Hovensa and its employees.
Alex Moorhead, Hovensa vice president, stated that Hovensa has made such a pledge for several years to encourage its employees to make donations to the United Way, which in turn provides grants to member-agencies of the organization. "Hovensa was pleased to join with its employees in supporting the United Way of St. Croix; many non-profit organizations depend on funding from the United Way to continue their services to the citizens in this community," Moorhead said.
Averil E. George, the chairman of the board of governors of the United Way of St. Croix and an employee of Hovensa, accepted Hovensa’s check on behalf of the United Way.
George thanked her co-workers and Hovensa for their financial support. She said that she looks forward to receiving their support during the United Way’s 2006 campaign, which officially kicks off on Sept. 30, 2005.
