St. Thomas Native Excels at Coast Guard Academy

May 27, 2005 – Second Class Cadet Elroy Allen of St. Thomas is well on his way to becoming an outstanding Coast Guard officer.
Allen is a recipient of a gold star and was named to the dean's list for maintaining a GPA over 3.15 and earned a silver star for outstanding military performance by scoring over 80 points on his military performance evaluation. He will also be serving as assistant to the Executive Officer while helping to train the incoming class of cadets during his summer cruise aboard the CGC Eagle which will take him from New London, Conn. to Portugal, Spain, the Canary Islands, and Bermuda.
Cadet Allen is a management major at the academy and is a member of the Class of 2007. He is the son of Elroy S. Allen Sr. and Joycelyn Allen.
"I am excited to get underway and engage in my summer training," said Cadet Allen. "I know it will be a worthwhile leadership experience that will prove beneficial to me as I strive to be an officer in the U.S. Coast Guard."
