UVI-CELL Announces April Course Schedule

March 15, 2005 – The University of the Virgin Islands Community Engagement and Lifelong Learning Center is offering a variety of professional development and personal enrichment courses on the St. Thomas Campus.

OSHA 510: Standards for Construction Industry
This course provides an introduction to OSHA policies, procedures, and standards, as well as construction safety and health principles. Students will learn how to identify common causes of accidents/fatalities in hazardous areas and identify abatement techniques.
Individuals interested in taking the Trainer Course in OSHA Standards for Construction Industry (OSHA 500) may also register for the course which will be held May 16 to 19.

Date: April 4 to 7
Time: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Fee: $600
Location: CELL Center – St. Thomas

Success Skills for the Administrative Professional
This unique course enables administrative professionals to improve their decision-making, communication, and time management skills. Upon successful completion, students will receive 2.0 Continuing Education Units (CEUs).

Date: April 12 to May 17
Time: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays & Thursdays
Fee: $475
Location: CELL Center – St. Thomas

Basic Conversational Spanish
This 8-week course will facilitate more successful encounters in business, travel, social or educational settings. Students will learn to enhance their understanding of Spanish by focusing on communication strategies and conversational skills.
Date: April 18 to June 8
Time: 5:30 to 7 p.m. Mondays & Wednesdays
Fee: $350
Location: CELL Center – St. Thomas

Cake Decorating for Beginners
This introductory course provides step-by-step instructions on how to decorate cakes with a professional touch.

Date: May 4 to June 1
Time: 6 to 8:30 p.m.
Fee: $400 (includes beginner's kit)
Location: CELL Center – St. Thomas
