Man Dead in Industrial Accident at Crown Bay Plant

March 9, 2005 – An unidentified worker died Wednesday morning when he was entangled in a piece of equipment while working at a concrete processing plant in Crown Bay. The victim died at the scene at 10 a.m. despite efforts by dozens of emergency workers to save him.
The efforts made by emergency personnel revolved around trying to free the man from the equipment and to stop his bleeding.
Medical personnel were being readied to amputate one of his limbs in an effort to save him, but as one person at the scene said, he had simply hemorrhaged too much.
Police did not immediately identify the man, pending notification to his family.
An investigation, reportedly headed by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, is underway into the cause of the accident.
