July 16, 2004 – Starting on Monday, Public Works crews will be conducting roadside cleanups across St. Thomas and cleaning the gut and drain at Long Bay Road by the Pueblo Supermarket, according to a Government House release issued on Friday.
The Long Bay project will entail taking up the sidewalk by the supermarket. Work will be carried out between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., and traffic signs will be posted.
Roadside cleanup will be during the same hours. Stretches of road scheduled for trash pickup and pruning of vegetation are Cassie Hill heading toward Four Winds Plaza, Bolongo Bay Road, Brookman Road, Mafolie Road and Fortuna Road.
The release asked that motorists "drive cautiously and respect the orange cones placed on the side of the roads." It added that Public Works crews "are experiencing near misses by some motorists who are purposely knocking down the cones that are placed for the protection of the workmen and to warn the motoring public to proceed with caution."
