June 5, 2004- – Hearings on the Virgin Islands Fiscal Accountability Act, HR 3589, better known as the Chief Financial Officer bill, will be web cast live by the House Committee on Resources on Wednesday, June 16, according to Donna M. Christensen, V.I. delegate to congress. Persons wishing to log in to the web cast can do so at www.house.gov, then selecting Resources Committee and then the live audio button.
Delegate Christensen also announced that the Spanish version of the legislation is now available on her website at www.house.gov/christian-christensen/, Persons wishing a copy of the Spanish version can also obtain it by contacting the Delegate’s offices on St. Croix, St. Thomas, St. John or Washington, D.C.
Virgin Islanders will be invited to testify on the legislation aimed at creating a chief financial officer for the territory and a financial management system. The delegate reiterated her request to members of the public wishing to submit statements for the record to submit them by email, fax or in person to any of her four offices.
