Deadline to apply is April 30, 2002.
Two scholarships of up to $60,000 will be offered to high school seniors graduating from local high schools who intend to obtain a bachelor's degree in engineering or a computer-related field of study.
The Authority will also be offering two Alva C. McFarlane Scholarships of up to $20,000 to high school seniors who plan to obtain an associate degree in a technical field, such as mechanical, civil, electrical, electronics, metal trades or computer-related fields.
One bachelor's degree and one associate degree scholarship will be offered in each of the St. Thomas District and the St. Thomas-St. John-Water Island District. Candidates will be selected on the basis of ability and financial need.
The scholarships will pay for all expenses involved with attending the post-high school learning institution, including tuition, fees, room and board, books, supplies, transportation and miscellaneous expenses.
Summer employment at WAPA facilities will be provided. Scholarship recipients must pledge to work for WAPA for each year of education financed.
