ESTIMATED TAXES DUE TO BIR ON TUESDAY

Jan. 14, 2002 – Estimated taxes are due Tuesday, the Internal Revenue Bureau director, Louis Willis, said in a news release issued on Monday.
"This is a good time to review all payments made to the Bureau of Internal Revenue to ensure that they are sufficient to cover the taxes due," Willis said. "If additional amounts need to be paid, the calculation should be done now in order to make the final payment by the due date."
Taxpayers who plan to file their competed income tax returns by Jan. 31 may include their final estimated payment with the return, he said.
"Paying the correct amount of estimated tax payments avoids the imposition of a penalty for the underpayment of estimated tax," he said.
Questions about estimated tax should be directed to the IRB chief counsel at 714- 9312 or 774-5865, ext. 2249.
