UVI Spring 2001 Admissions Deadline
The admissions deadline for the Spring 2001 semester at UVI is Oct. 30. Undergraduate and graduate admissions applications are available in the Admissions Offices on each campus or online at www.uvi.edu. Interested parties should submit an application, SAT scores and a $20 application fee. Call 693-1150(STT) or 693-1158 (STX) for more information. Apply now!
Nonpoint Source Pollution Conference Youth Contest
The deadline for submissions to the three youth contests that will take place during the Nonpoint Source Pollution Conference in December is extended to Nov. 17. The Nonpoint Source Pollution Conference committee will sponsor a poster contest for students in grades K through 4, a poetry contest for students in grades 5 through 8 and a photography contest for high school students. All entries should represent the theme, "From summits to sea – how nonpoint source pollution impacts our islands." 2000 Agriculture and Food Fair
The 19th annual St. Thomas-St. John Agriculture and Food Fair will be held Nov. 11-12 on the grounds of the Reichhold Center for the Arts. The theme for this year is "Healthy Farms, Healthy Children, Healthy Future." On sale will be plants, fruits, vegetables, food, arts and crafts and much more. Enter Frank's Bake Shop's "Best Tasting Sweet Bread Contest" and/or Best Tasting Maubi Contest. There will be educational displays and entertainment for all ages including pony rides, games, a petting zoo and live music. Admission for adults is $2.00. Free workshops at UVI
The Univerity of the Virgin Islands Counseling & Placement Center and the UVI chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) will sponsor several workshops in the coming weeks. The first workshop, on Thursday, Oct. 19, was "The Cover Letter." The schedule for subsequent workshops is as follows: Nov. 9 – "The Resume," Nov. 16 – "The interview and the thank you letter," Nov. 21 – "Now that you’ve got the job, what employers expect." All sessions are free and are scheduled for UVI’’s St. Thomas campus, Room B101, at 1 p.m.
SBDC sponsors "Internet 101"
The UVI Small Business Development Center will conduct a series of Internet business seminars in the coming weeks. On Thursday, Nov. 2, the seminar is entitled, "Internet Marketing: e-business vs. me-business." On Thursday, Nov. 9, the seminar is entitled, "Internet Business Strategies," and on Thursday, Nov. 16, the seminar is entitled, "Internet Live! – A Case Study." All sessions are at the Palms Court Harbor View Hotel from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Admission is $20 per seminar. For further information call the SBDC at 776-3206.
Waitukubli to perform at Reichhold Center for the Arts
Waitukubuli, the cultural dance group from the island of Dominica, will celebrate Dominica's independence with a performance at the Reichhold Center for the Arts on Saturday, Oct. 28 at 8 p.m. For tickets, call the Reichhold Center Box Office at 693-1559.
"Godspell"at UVI’’s Little Theatre
It's that time again! UVI Theatre time again! After devouring your turkey dinner, come to the UVI Little Theatre to see the musical "Godspell." This play, based on the Gospel according to St. Matthew, is filled with music and dance. The dates are Nov. 24, 25, 26, 27 at 8 p.m. Tickets will go on sale Nov. 6 at Dockside Bookstore, Education Station, Nisky Pharmacy, the UVI Humanities Building and the UVI Bookstore. Student admission is $5 and general admission is $10.
