The English Department of the Charlotte Amalie High School is holding a Troll Book Fair. The Fair is being held in Room 194B of the English Department , and will run through the week of May 8, 2000. The main purpose of the fair is to encourage students to read and the secondary purpose is to raise money to give The Ruth E. Thomas Scholarship and the English Department Scholarship.
For many years, the English Department has raised funds to give a scholarship to a Senior with a B average or higher, a person wishes to become an English teacher and who will attend the University of the Virgin Islands. Recently, the department has added another scholarship for a student who wishes to become an English teacher, who may prefer not to attend UVI but plans to return to teach in the Virgin Islands.
This is the 9th year of our Troll Book Fair and that means that the English Department has awarded at least $5000.00 in scholarships. We have also seen the sheer joy that some students derive from purchasing and reading these books. The fair provides a low-cost and convenient way for parents to give their children high quality literature while teachers can encourage their students to read. The books cover a variety of subjects styles and genres : classic, adventure, fantasy, mystery, sports, science fiction and more. There are also kits for budding artists and scientists.
We at C.A.H.S. hope to keep and hold the interest rate of our students as we continue to promote our 9th Annual Book Fair. See you at the Fair!
CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AWARDS THREE CHARLOTTE AMALIE HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

On Saturday April 1, honor students Nashun St. Bernard, Morgan Callendar and Dwayne K. Thomas, all seniors attending Charlotte Amalie High School, were bestowed with the Student Achievement Award by the St. Thomas/St. John Chamber of Commerce. The grand gala took place at the St. Peter Mountain Great House and Botanical Gardens, located on the Northside of St. Thomas. The prestigious award highlighted the students’ community involvement and high school performance and focused on their participation and accolades in the territorial scholastic and science Quiz Bowls in which they ably represented
CAHS.
The setting in which the presentation took place, gave everyone who
attended a soothing and calm feeling due to the unsurpassed beauty which was emanating from the garden. The prestigious young men marveled us with their elusive academic achievements; they also dazzled the audience with their unique style and irresistible charm and class.
