American Airlines' inaugural flight from Boston will arrive at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 18, at Cyril E. King Airport.
A reception committee headed by acting Tourism Commissioner Monique Sibilly-Hodge and Gordon Finch, Port Authority executive director, will greet the new flight. Media representatives, government officials and tourism partners will also be on hand to welcome American's new addition to its St. Thomas service.
Hodge said that the flight, which operates Friday through Monday, "gives potential visitors a wonderful vacation, as well as an option for a weekend getaway."
She added, "American's decision to add another flight to their regular schedule of daily flights is indicative of the airline's interest in the territory."
American operates daily nonstop service from St. Thomas to New York (JFK) and Miami, and daily nonstop flights to St. Croix from Miami. The Boston flight will use 727 aircraft, which seat 188 passengers, and will arrive at 2:37 p.m.
