MATHEMATICIANS TO MEET

The St. Thomas/St. John Council of Teachers of Mathematics would like to invite teachers, educators and anyone who is interested in the teaching of mathematics to attend the council's winter meeting from 9 a.m.- 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 5, at the Curriculum Center in Estate Tutu.
The council is dedicated to bringing together the islands’ mathematics teachers and students to discuss issues concerning mathematics teaching, to share ideas and methods and simply give people interested in mathematics an opportunity to meet and know each other.
The agenda for this meeting is a talk on "Fractals" presented by UVI student Marsha Penn, a presentation of "Math Games" given by Allegra Callwood, and a forum of standardized testing and classroom assessment that will include guest speakers from various schools and departments.
Lunch will be provided at the end of the meeting. A $5. donation will be requested. If possible, RSVP to Mario Turnbull 774-0780 ext. 2135 or Adam Parr via email at aparr@uvi.edu/A> or phone 693-1333 because lunch will be served. But those interested are invited to come even without an RSVP.
