MILLENNIUM CELEBRATIONS START AT EMANCIPATION GARDEN

The Governor's Millennium Committee, in conjunction with the Interfaith Coalition of St. Thomas/St. John, will kick off its millennium celebration activities with a non-denominational service of thanksgiving.
The ceremony will begin at 6 a.m. Friday, Dec. 31 at Emancipation Garden and include performances by the Caribbean Corale, the Territorial Court Rising Stars and Steel Orchestra, the Philadelphia Seventh Day Adventist Senior Choir and other vocalists, according to a release from Government House.
Guest speaker, Wycherley Gumbs will speak on "Reflections of the future– challenges and possibilities."
Gov.. Charles W. Turnbull in urging the community to join in the festivities, said the event would offer an "atmosphere of inspiration, reflection, joy and love as we bid farewell to a century and pray for a world filled with peace for the future."
