Over the weekend, the Water And Power Authority's goals are to repair the main feeder lines and complete assessment of damage to feeders on St. Croix, and to finish responding to trouble calls on St. Thomas, St. John and Water Island.
WAPA announced Friday evening that it had recovered 25 percent of its normal St. Croix power load. This included full restoration of Feeder No. 1, which serves Christiansted, and partial restoration to other feeders as follows:
– Feeder 2 (the Port Terminal, Mount Welcome, Welcome, Gallows Bay and portions of Tide Village) — 40 percent.
– Feeder 3 (Queen's Quarter, Hermon Hill, Ruby, Anna's Hope and Sion Farm), 30 percent.
– Feeder 4 (Peter's Rest, Frank Weisner Complex, Sion Farm and portions of Mary's Fancy, Constitution Hill and Rattan), 30 percent.
– Feeder 6 (sections of Mon Bijou-Frangipani, Glynn, Little Fountain, Mon Bijou and La Vallee), 20 percent.
– Feeder 9 (Central High School, Education Complex, University of the Virgin Islands, Sunshine Mall, Estate Cane, sections of Mount Pleasant West), 20 percent; plus Henry E. Rohlsen Airport, fully restored.
– Feeder 10 (sections of Frederiksted, Grove Place and LaGrange), 20 percent.
In the St. Thomas-St. John-Water Island district, the release said, WAPA had recovered 90 to 95 percent of its normal electrical load. Personnel are continuing this weekend "to work on trouble calls" in the district and expect to complete them before Monday.
On St. Thomas, WAPA executive director Raymond George said, most of the trouble calls were from the Smith Bay area, while on St. John most were on the North Shore including Fish Bay, Bordeaux and Carolina.
Those still experiencing power problems can call 773-2250 or 773-0150 on St. Croix and 774-3552 or 774-1424 on St. Thomas. WAPA personnel are on duty today to take calls.
WAPA again advised those without power to unplug appliances and switch all circuit breakers but one to the "off" position, so as to minimize possible damage when power is restored.
