Legislature Appoints Former Sen. Stridiron Executive Director

Iver StridironThe newly formed Democratic Party majority of the V.I. Legislature intends to appoint former Sen. Iver Stridiron to be executive director of the 30th Legislature, incoming Senate President Shawn-Michael Malone announced Friday.

Stridiron, an attorney who currently represents the V.I. Waste Management Authority, has himself served three terms as a V.I. legislator. In a statement, Malone said Stridiron brings a wealth of legal, political and management experience to the body.

"I gave this appointment most careful consideration and knew we required the kind of disciplined and experienced leadership embodied in attorney Stridiron," Malone said. "He also served as president of the 17th Legislature and is intimately familiar with its operations from all standpoints. We selected Mr. Stridiron to assist the leadership of the majority to bring about badly needed reforms to Legislature operations and improve overall accountability. His mission is clear and together we will work to institute policies that bring greater professionalism to the body. We can certainly benefit from his experience during this challenging period in Virgin Islands history."

Stridiron was also V.I. attorney general during most of Gov. Charles W. Turnbull’s first term in office.
