Iris Emelda Richards Battiste of Hamilton Jackson Terrace died Thursday, Oct. 19 at Juan F. Luis Hospital. She was 68.
Funeral services will be held at noon Friday, Oct. 27 at Holy Cross Catholic Church. A viewing will be held prior to the service beginning at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Kingshill Cemetery.
Mrs. Battiste is survived by her husband, Austin Ecedro Battiste; daughters, Lorna Jackson, Yvonne Pogson, Winifred Lawrence, Rena Battiste, Marie Battiste, Yvette Bermudez and Maureen Battiste; sons, Rhudel Lawrence Sr., and Austin Battiste Jr.; mother-in-law, Antoinette Michael; father-in-law, Adolph Battiste Sr.; grandchildren, Marzell, Ezekiel and Elijah Johnson, Sherilyn, Shermaine, Yolander, Ronald and LeVar Pogson, Everlyn Beckles, Barbara, Rhudel Jr. and Kenneth Lawrence, Iris Battiste, George and Michael Parrish, Vernon Jr. and Cassandra Brittan and Antonio Bermudez.
She is also survived by sons-in-law, Marzell Johnson Jr., Ronald Pogson Sr., Roy E. Beckles, Vernon Brittan Sr., and Luis F. Bermudez; sister-in-law, Jean Battiste; brothers-in-law, Alric Battiste, Adolph Battiste Jr., and Robert Lee Brow; daughters-in-law, Lynn Lawrence and Joanne Greenidge; great-grandchildren, Deshaun Schneider and Little Ezekiel; and numerous relatives and friends.
