CCT Play Celebrates MLK Day

Caribbean Community Theater continues its 34th season with “The Mountaintop,” a play by Katori Hall. There will be only three performances of this play over one weekend: Friday and Saturday, Jan. 18 and 19, with one Sunday matinee on Jan. 20. The play is a reimagination of the night before Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated. After delivering one of his most memorable and prophetic speeches, “I’ve Been to the Mountaintop,” Dr. King retires to his room at the Lorraine Motel. There he encounters the motel maid, Camae, a young woman who is as sassy as she is mysterious. Tickets are $20 for adults, with discounts for seniors, students and CCT members; they may be purchased at the CCT box office prior to each show, which opens 45 minutes before curtain. This play is not recommended for children under age 16.
