Aurelia Emelda Civil-Bailey Dies at 70

Aurelia Emelda Civil-Bailey

Aurelia Emelda Civil-Bailey, also known as “Rellie” and “Auntie Rellie,” was born Jan. 4, 1947, and died Feb. 3, 2017.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Beatrice Bolling Civil; father: James Civil Sr.; son, Kito Bailey; and brother, Neville Lee Sr.

She is survived by her ex-husband, Fred Bailey Sr.; children: Fred Bailey Jr., Paul Bailey and Carol Bailey; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters: Marilyn Lee Gumbs (St. Thomas), Marion Lee O’Reilly, Louise Sealey James, Pauline Sackey Boynes (Atlanta) and Rosalia “Rosie” Sackey; brothers: Roosevelt Lee, James Civil Jr. (N.Y.) and Victor Cornelius (Conn.); and nephews: Alfred, Romulo and Carl O’Reilly, Rashid Hendricks, James and Kelvin Lee, Marvin Lawrence, Troy Ortiz, Karim Williams and Raymond Boynes Jr.

She is also survived by nieces: Charmaine O’Reilly, Ramona King, Virginia McDuffie, N’Kenge Boynes, N’Kole Borcherding, Kadesha Williams, Jackie Lee Frett, Joycelyn Lee-Bobb, Jaslyn Lee, Taniya Laurencin, Rebecca Cornelius and Beatrice Lee; special cousin, Aurelia Williams-Richards; cousins: Jane Bolling, Iris Wilson, Beryl Sergant, Dorothy Bolling, Deanne Bolling, Janice Bolling James, Delita Bolling Moore, Eric, Ejnar and Harry Bolling, Beverly, George, Mae, Ronette, Mario and David Nesbitt; and other families: the Sackey family, the Naughton family, the Bolling family and the O’Reilly family.

Other survivors include godsister, Sylvia Gibbs; special childhood friends: Dorene Barnard, Dorene Christian, Maria Hilaire, Roland Huntt Sr., Geneva Rivera, Norbert Pickering Sr., Karen Quinn and Lydia Thomas-Parris; special friends: Lucy Fredericks, Vicky and Harryman St. Ange, Leona Williams, Claudette Perotte (N.Y.), Lynda Gill (N.Y.) and Jacqueline Richardson (N.Y.); as well as other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 1, at Divine Funeral Services Chapel, 129 Peter’s Rest.
