Robbery Suspect Apprehended After Victim Identifies Him to Police

The Virgin Islands Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Bureau, with assistance from the VIPD Patrol Division, arrested a man on St. Thomas in connection with an armed robbery that occurred Friday morning.

According to a VIPD press release, officers apprehended Benjamin Jackson at approximately 8:00 a.m. on April 18, after the victim, who had contacted 911, identified him on the scene as the person who robbed him at gunpoint.

Following the identification, officers transported Jackson to the Criminal Investigation Bureau, where he was advised of his rights and placed under arrest, the police report stated.

The VIPD is requesting the public’s assistance in gathering further information related to the incident.

Individuals with knowledge of the robbery are encouraged to contact the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 340-774-2211, extensions 5553, 5554, 5555, or 5556. Tips may also be reported to emergency services by dialing 911, to Crime Stoppers V.I. at 1-800-222-TIPS, or directly to the Chief’s Office at 340-715-5546 and the Commissioner’s Office at 340-715-5506.

All tips are confidential, and contributors can remain anonymous, the VIPD stated.
