ECU Arrests Suspect in Home Depot Refrigerator Theft

Authorities on St. Croix arrested Lou Hermon on Monday in connection with the theft of a refrigerator from The Home Depot, the V.I. Police Department reported.

Hermon, identified as the boyfriend of former employee Sheba Young, is accused of removing the stolen item from his personal vehicle and refusing to disclose its delivery location or recipient, according to the police report.

The Economic Crimes Unit launched an investigation on Dec. 16, 2024, following a complaint from The Home Depot. This inquiry initially led to the arrest of Young. Evidence later implicated Hermon, resulting in the issuance of an arrest warrant, the police report stated.

Hermon voluntarily surrendered at the Wilbur H. Francis Police Station, where he was served with the warrant, informed of his rights, and charged with grand larceny, embezzlement by an employee, and conspiracy, the report stated.

Bail was set at $35,000, and Hermon was remanded to the John A. Bell Adult Correction Facility after failing to post bond. He awaits his advice of rights hearing, it said.

The investigation remains ongoing.
