Lisa M. Alejandro, commissioner of the V.I. Department of Property and Procurement, has announced the 2024 Government of the Virgin Islands Vehicle Auctions.

The St. Croix Vehicle Auction will take place on Saturday, July 27, and the St. Thomas Vehicle Auction will take place on Saturday, Aug. 10.

“We’re excited to host this year’s government vehicle auctions, which will offer a wide array of vehicles including cars, trucks, SUVs and commercial vehicles, providing an excellent opportunity for interested bidders to find a reasonably priced vehicle,” said Commissioner Alejandro. “Our team has worked diligently with our sister agencies to curate a diverse selection of vehicles and we look forward to providing exceptional customer service during the auction process.”

Interested bidders are strongly encouraged to review the updated auction rules and vehicle auction contract at the department’s website: https://dpp.vi.gov/ in advance of the auction.

Some of the updates this year include:

  • Online Pre-registration. Interested bidders are invited to pre-register starting Wednesday, July 24, on the Department of Property and Procurement’s website https://dpp.vi.gov/pay-online/. In[1]person pre-registration still exists at the Property and Procurement main building in Estate Richmond from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Wednesday, July 24, through Friday, July 26.
  • Vehicle Assessment. Interested bidders are invited to assess the vehicles and examine their condition for three days prior to the auction from Wednesday, July 24, through Friday, July 26, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Once the auction begins, there will not be an opportunity to assess the vehicles nor a walk-through during the auction.

Other significant reminders include:

  • The non-refundable $150.00 pre-registration fee, accepted from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Wednesday, July 24 through Friday, July 26 can be paid by certified or business check, cash, credit card or debit card. The non-refundable day-of-auction registration fee is $200.00 and will be collected from 9 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. on the day of the auction.

Only cash will be accepted on the day of the auction

  • All property offered for sale by the government is “as is” and “where is.”
  • Each registered bidder is allowed only one guest at the auction.
  • No person under the age of 18 is permitted at the auction site.
  • No registered bidder is allowed to purchase more than two vehicles.
  • Awards will be made to the highest responsive bidder.
  • There will be no swapping vehicles. A bid on a particular vehicle is an offer to purchase that vehicle. It cannot be substituted for any other vehicle.
  • Bidders must pay at least 25 percent (25%) of the award price on the day of the auction. The remaining balance of the award price is due to DPP by close of business on the third business day after the auction. There shall be no refund of the 25% award price if a bidder fails to pay the remaining balance.
  • No bidder will be permitted to leave with any vehicle/property on the auction date.

Bidders must complete payment within three business days after the auction and retrieve the vehicle within five business days after the auction.

Interested bidders are invited to participate in vehicle previews and early registration. Detailed

information about available vehicles will be published on the department’s website. The Department of Property and Procurement looks forward to welcoming the community to its 2024 Vehicle Auctions.
