Maria Soto Barker Dies at 96

Maria Soto Barker of Estate Calquohoun died on Feb. 4. She was 96 years old.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Herman E. Barker; son, Jose Barker; brother, Jose Soto; and sisters: Margarita Ayala and Alicia Soto.

She is survived by her sons: Herman Heywood Jr. (“Chap”) and Helman E. Barker; daughters: Gloria Barker, Alicia Barker, Amalia Barker and Lucia Barker; grandchildren and great-grandchildren too numerous to mention; brothers: Leonardo Soto and Christian Soto Sr.; and sister, Reina Soto.

The viewing will take place at 9 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 15, at Calvary Baptist Church. Interment will be at Kingshill Cemetery.
