Man Assaulted and Discharged Shots at Victim, Now Charged with Reckless Endangerment

A St. Croix man who assaulted a man and fired shots at two men in February 2022 has now been charged with reckless endangerment, among other charges, the V.I. Police Department reported.

On Feb. 4, 2022, at approximately 9:17 a.m., the 911 Emergency Call Center notified officers of the discharging of shots near a residence in Estate Barren, according to the police report.

The victim told the investigator on Jan. 31, 2022, that Shamar Brown assaulted him because he was dating his ex-girlfriend. The victim stated that he and his brother were taking their usual morning walk in the area where Brown resided, and he began throwing rocks at them. Brown then entered his residence and returned with a handgun and discharged several shots at them. However, no one was injured, the police report stated.

On March 2, detectives obtained a warrant for the arrest of Brown, it said.

On Tuesday, at 6:04 a.m., Brown, 26, was arrested at his residence without incident. Brown was charged with reckless endangerment, assault, discharging or aiming of a firearm, carrying of firearms openly or concealed, and possession or sale of ammunition. He declined to provide a statement, and his bail was set at $100,000. He was remanded to the John Bell Adult Correctional Facility pending his advice of rights hearing, police said.
