Cane Roots Art Gallery showcased talented artists from the Center for Educational Growth from Thursday to Saturday. The young artists learned the process of showcasing art from start to finish with the assistance of the owner of Cane Roots Art Gallery, Sonia Deane.
Director for the Center for Educational Growth Sandra Cannon said that Deane critiqued each student’s art piece and taught them how to place art in a gallery. She also discussed the process of framing, how to market their piece, how to get contracts from different galleries, percentages taken from each piece of art once sold and how an art gallery operates.
Each student was able to sell a piece of art, and one student almost sold all their pieces. All sales will go toward future scholarships for each student. Cannon said that she looks forward to working with Cane Roots Art Gallery in future.
The Center for Educational Growth has made a concentrated effort to encourage students to embrace their creativity, and this event shows the students how valuable their time and work can be.
