Man Killed in West End Shooting

A 29-year-old man identified by the V.I Police Department as Erikson Hansen, who was former Sen. Alicia "Chucky" Hansen’s son, was found shot to death either late Tuesday or early Wednesday in Estate Williams Delight.

It was the 17th homicide on St. Croix since the beginning of the year, the 36th in the territory.

According to the VIPD, officers were dispatched at 12:34 a.m. Wednesday to a report of gunfire in Estate Cane, behind Kmart located in the Sunshine Mall.

The woman who reported the shots told officers a male companion had come to her residence for a meal earlier that evening. As he was walking towards his vehicle at about 10 p.m. she heard gunfire and saw two men running into the bushes, west of Estate Williams Delight.

Officers searched for the man but were unable to locate him. They did discover several spent shell-casings in the area.

At 6:33 a.m., the 911 emergency call center received a call from a concerned citizen saying the body of a man had been found in Estate Williams Delight. Responding officers discovered the body of a deceased man who appeared to have sustained multiple gunshot wounds. They found shell casings found around his body.

The body of the dead man matched the description of the woman’s male companion. Police later identified him as Hansen.
