STX Man Charged with Passing Counterfeit Check

The V.I. Police Department on Monday arrested Andrew Thomas, a 23-year-old resident of Carib Villas, and charged him with grand larceny, identity theft, and passing forged bills or notes.

According to police the arrest took place at about 1:42 p.m. Nov. 9 and was carried out by detectives of the Economic Crimes Unit. Thomas allegedly passed a counterfeit check in the amount of $2,321.27 at Bank of St. Croix, using account information from a business at which he was not employed.

Bail for Thomas was set at $20,000. He posted 10 percent of the bail and was released pending his advice of rights hearing.
