The Virgin Islands Department of Labor (VIDOL) initiates compliance reviews of Limetree Bay Terminals LLC., Limetree Bay Refining LLC, and seven of the major subcontracting companies that support Limetree Bay Terminals and Refining. The compliance reviews were completed to assist the needs of those individuals affected by the downsizing of personnel at Limetree Bay LLC., to facilitate services required as a result of the anticipated downsizing.

VIDOL issues tips, and reminders to help coordinate services and prevent compliance issues. Commissioner Gary Molloy stated the following, “In addition to corresponding with each of these companies, the VIDOL continues to provide services to those directly affected by events such as a plant closing and company downsizing. Although the territory has experienced this transition before, VIDOL remains vigilant over the procedures to aid employees and employers in completing the process correctly.”

The Department of Labor Rapid Response Team has collected information on the affected individuals. While it conducts follow-up compliance reviews, the following reminders will help individuals directly affected.

• Find out if you are eligible for unemployment benefits. Contact the VIDOL Unemployment Insurance Unit.
• The Workforce Development Unit provides job seekers with information and support.
• To report unfair labor practices or to find out more about worker’s rights and responsibilities, contact the Labor Relations Unit.
