Police Probe Early Morning Bar Robbery

The V.I. Police Department is asking for the public’s help in solving a series of armed robberies in the St. Thomas-St. John District, the latest of which occurred early Sunday.

According to the police report, at 4:15 a.m. Sunday the 911 call center received a report that an armed robbery had just occurred at the Galaxy Bar, at the bottom of Cassi Hill inย Smithย Bay on St. Thomas.

Responding officers made contact was made with the victims who said that while they were closing the bar, four masked men entered, armed “with ย big guns.”

The victims told police one of the suspects emptied the cash register while another searched one of ย the victimโ€™s purse and another victimโ€™s pocket. The gunmen took off with approximately $1,200 in total. taken from the victim and the cash register, fleeing to an unknown location.


The Virgin Islands police Department is investigating a series ย of robberies in the St. Thomas-St. John District. Deputy Chief David Canonnier asked the community to be more vigilant and to report any and all suspicious activities.

“If you’re going to be out late night working or ย out socially, please be aware of your environment and keep as much light on as possible,” the VIPD news release said. “If you feel unsafe call 911 immediately and if you, as a community member have information on these incidents, call CIB (the Criminal Investigation Bureau) at 340-778-2211.”

People with information also can call the anonymous tip service, Crimeย Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-8477 (1-800-222-TIPS).
