The Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority (VIWMA) advises residents and motorists of two sewer line replacement projects that the authority is currently undergoing:
Golden Rock Area: Repairs to a collapsed six-inch line in the vicinity of Club St. Croix in the Golden Rock area will commence this weekend. Approximately 270-feet of concrete sewer line will be replaced with a six-inch PVC piping. This work will impact the traffic flow along Route 752, which runs from Harbour View Housing Community eastward. Residents within the construction area will be allowed vehicular access to their properties for the duration of this project, which is expected to last approximately 14 days. Vehicular traffic will be reduced to one lane during this time. Motorists are asked to use alternate routes when possible and to reduce vehicular speed and adhere to the directions of posted signs and flagmen.
Sunny Isle Area: Repairs will be made to a damaged 18-inch sewer line running adjacent to the rear of the Sunny Isle Mall in the rear parking lot behind Kmart. Motorists are asked to use alternate parking areas for the duration of this project.
Residents are asked to report any overflows to the VIWMA at our Customer Service Hotline at 713-1962 on St. Croix and 774-4139 on St. Thomas/St. John. You can also Report-A-Problem on the Web site at www.viwma.org.
The authority apologizes for any inconvenience that these projects may cause while we work diligently to upgrade and improve the sewer system in this area. For more information, contact the Office of Communications Management at either 712-4951 or 690-4218.
