Education Department Announces New PR Director

The V.I. Department of Education has announced that former V.I. Source Managing Editor Ananta Pancham will serve as the department’s territorial public relations director, effective Monday.

According to a department press release issued Tuesday, Pancham brings 10 years of media and journalism experience to the position.

Beginning her career in 2001 as an intern staff reporter for the Source, she eventually moved on to track and cover local political affairs as the newspaper’s government reporter. Prior to her appointment at Education, Pancham most recently served as the Source’s managing editor.

Other work-related experience includes: technical consultant for the Community Foundation of the Virgin Islands, district coordinator for Graffiti Street, and intern editor for "A Gathering of the Tribes" magazine in New York City.

Pancham graduated from Antilles School on St. Thomas in 2001 and obtained a Bachelors of Arts degree in Writing from Sarah Lawrence College in New York. She has lived in the U.S. Virgin Islands for the past 23 years.
