Most nonessential government employees will be enjoying administrative leave much of next week for the gubernatorial inauguration and St. Croix Christmas Festival, thanks to a proclamation signed by Gov. John deJongh Jr. earlier this month.

All nonessential employees in both districts are on leave Monday, Jan. 3 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for the inauguration.

On Tuesday, St. Croix employees have leave from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for the St. Croix post-inaugural events. On Wednesday, St. Croix employees are again on leave for J’ouvert and the annual Crucian Christmas Festival food fair, while those on St. Thomas are on leave for post-inaugural activities on St. John.

Thursday is Three Kings Day, a legal holiday in the territory, and employees in both districts are on leave. On Friday, both districts are again on leave from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for the annual Children’s Parade on St. Croix.
