The Seaborne Stealers remains the only unbeaten team in the Bob Owens slow pitch softball league after humbling the National Guard Hummers 15-3 behind a six-hit pitching effort by ace Samuel Ramos Tuesday night at the D.C. Canegata Ball Park. The Stealers sit alone at the top of the league with a 7-0 record and so far has looked unbeatable with excellent pitching and great hitting. The other winners for the night were Softball Inc and the Warriors, who both outlasted their opponents 16-14 and 12-9, respectively.
Softball Inc 12, Cartel 9
In game one on Tuesday, Softball Inc outlasted the Cartel 12-9 in a contest that was not decided until the final two innings. It was Softball Inc with 12 runs on 14 hits and two errors, while the Cartel finished with nine runs on 12 hits and three errors. The winning pitcher was Cody St. Pierre, and David McFarland got the loss for the Cartel. Top batters for the winners were Antonio Cruz (3 for 4 with three home runs and seven RBIs) and St. Pierre (2 for 3 with a home run and one RBI). For the Cartel, McFarland was 2 for 2 with one RBI, and Wayne Scotland was 3 for 4 with four RBIs.
Warriors 16, Anchor Dive 14
The Warriors got the best of Anchor Dive in a game two slugfest coming away with a 16-14 victory. It was the Warriors with 16 runs on 28 hits and three errors, while Anchor Dive finished with 14 runs on 12 hits and four errors. Angel Soto got the win on the hill for the Warriors, while Edwin Sankitts got the loss. Top batters for the Warriors were Miguel Rodriguez (2 for 2 with two home runs and five RBIs) and David Pierre (2 for 3 with two home runs and four RBIs). For Anchor Dive, Randy Rawlins was 2 for 3 with a home run and five RBIs, and Juan Burgos was 2 for 3 with a home run and two RBIs.
Stealers 15, Hummers 3
Samuel Gave up six hits in Tuesday’s night cap and the unbeaten Seaborne Stealers made short work of the National Guard Hummers 15-3 by way of the 10-run mercy rule. The Stealers pounded 15 runs on 15 hits and committed just one error, while the Hummers plated three runs on six hits while committing three errors. Ramos got his seventh pitching victory, while Roman Cruz got the loss for the Hummers. Top batters for the Stealers were Ronald Schjang (2 for 2 with two home runs and seven RBIs) and Owen Pimentel (2 for 3 with a home run and one RBI.) For the Hummers, Mario Christian was 1 for 2 with a home run and three RBIs.
