June is the beginning of hurricane season on St. Croix, and it is important to be prepared. Errol Chichester, deputy commissioner of Agriculture, will be on hand to discuss the potential effects of adverse weather on trees and palms. He will also offer tips and guidance on how to best prepare your landscape for hurricane season now and throughout the year.
Grow and Learn is a St. George Village Botanical Gardens' series of hands-on workshops. They are held on the third Friday of each month in the Pavilion at the Bodine's Visitors Center from 3-5 p.m., just before Sunset Jazz. Past workshops include learning how to make edible garnishes out of fruits and vegetables and how to make tequila from agave. There is a fee of $5 for members and $15 for non-members; call to register at 692-2874.
