March 13, 2009 – The Virgin Islands Department of Education's State Office of Special Education and the St. Thomas-St. John District Office of Special Education will host a Parent Retreat from April 3-5, at the Wyndham Sugar Bay Beach Resort. The theme of the retreat is "Parental Involvement in Special Education Makes a Difference in the Lives of Children with Disabilities."
Scheduled sessions will be held on Building Parent/Teacher Collaboration; Preparing Students With Disabilities for Teenage Years; and What Every Parent Should Know About Their Children With Disabilities, according to a press release from Education.
