Oct. 5, 2008 — After combing the island of St. Croix for the past two weeks, law-enforcement officials finally apprehended escaped prisoner Derrick Fredericks around 4:45 p.m. Saturday in the Dorsch Beach area on St. Croix.
Fredericks was captured without incident, according to a V.I. Police Department news release. Also arrested Saturday was 19-year-old Curtis Randolph of Estate Prospect Hill, who police believe may have helped Fredericks while he was on the run. Randolph has been charged with accessory after the fact.
Fredericks, along with convicted murderers Eduardo Carmona Jr. and Carlos Burgos, escaped Sept. 20 from Golden Grove. Fredericks was serving a five-year sentence for burglary. (See "Second Escapee Captured Without Incident.")
