April 6, 2007 — St. Croix top thoroughbred Carson Secrets will headline a field of six in Sunday’s feature race of the day, The Easter Rabbit Special. The race, the seventh on an eight-race card at the Randall “Doc” James Racetrack, will cover a distance of one mile for a purse of $4,200.
Carrying a top weight of 118 pounds, Carson Secrets will be getting strong competition from Preceptor (114), who he narrowly defeated last time out in a 7/1-2 furlong encounter.
Also looking to move forward in his second start in the territory, will be Strong Passer (117), who stumbled badly out of the gates in his debut against this field last race day. Strong Passer came highly regarded from El Comandante race track in Puerto Rico, and local fans will be looking for a much improved showing from him on Sunday.
Gallego (115), the closer in the race, will be hoping for a hot pace up front early, so that he can have a run at tiring horses heading for home.
Secrets Flying (111), carrying the low weight in the race, is stepping up in class and could throw in a surprise. Closing out the field is Zirito (118), making his debut on St. Croix and in the territory. He will be the race's X-factor.
