July 26, 2008 – Follow the Beat! Pistarckle Theater's Leadership Camp is for youth 9-16 years and will be held from July 21 through Aug. 15, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday. Tuition is $75/week.
Journey from the African Roots of hip-hop to the current, most popular sound. Focus is on the creative process. Students move away from the traditional, script-based works and the concerns of casting. They are encouraged to become more than interpretive artists, and to view themselves as intrinsic to the creative process: writing, designing, directing and producing a body of new work that stretches their ideas of what theater can be.
This curriculum involves a high level of group empowerment and collaboration and demands a degree of physical and mental concentration. Class time is spent not only introducing the ideas of theater but also on the techniques needed to build the character. By the end of this program, we hope to lay the foundation for your child's theatrical success.
