Dear Source:
My name is Danielle Wilson, and I am a native St. Thomian. I think that a floating hotel, is one of the most ridiculous ideas Ive ever heard! Even if we ignore the huge liability issue this poses as well as a very possible marine life danger due to pollution, there is still the loss of business of the hotels, villas and rooms that native Virgin Islanders rent out. The ideas that are brought to our government to consider should be ideas that will allow the Virgin Islands to bring in revenue as well as keep the culture, ambiance and paradise atmosphere of our home. A luxury floating hotel will be an eyesore to those who come here to escape all of that. Whats the point of going to an island of escape if it has the same crap that you are trying to avoid? This may seem like a very lucrative deal right now, but believe you me it will benefit the owner of the hotel much more than it will the people of the V.I. We will be the ones stuck with the ramifications of this decision years from now while they are enjoying the money that our islands gave them.
