May 18, 2006 – The Community Foundation of the Virgin Islands will distribute 136 donated mattresses to community organizations from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., on Friday, May 19, at the Old Little Switzerland Warehouse in Crown Bay.
The cruise ship, Wind Spirit, donated 136 brand new mattresses and gave them to the Community Foundation of the Virgin Islands (CFVI) to store and distribute.
The cruise ship fitted all its guest cabins with new mattresses, but once they received them they realized they were the wrong size. They then decided that they wanted to donate all these new mattresses to community organizations on St. Thomas. CFVI stepped up to organize the storage and distribution of the mattresses.
All the mattresses are already spoken for and the distribution will take place tomorrow.
Those planning to attend, can call CFVI at 774-6031 for directions.
