Lt. Governor Honored by St. Thomas Board of Realtors

Dec. 20, 2006 The St. Thomas Board of Realtors honored Lt. Gov. Vargrave Richards at a luncheon on Wednesday for improving the efficiency of the office of the lieutenant governor.
Board members thanked him for increasing the responsiveness of his office and for initiating a full automation of several divisions under his purview, accordin gto a press release from the Office of Lt. Gov. Vargrave Richards.
"We thank you for your progressive attitude and execution of the updating of the Recorder of Deeds and Cadastral section under your office," said April Newland, former president of the board. "We appreciate your excellent service and dedication to preserving private property rights for all Virgin Islanders."
Richards thanked the board for working with him to find solutions that made his office more accessible and business friendly.
"I have always believed in public/private partnerships," he said. "We have digitized all these maps and scanned thousands of documents. Thanks to our efforts, these records will be there for future generations to use and appreciate." The lieutenant governor said that much of the progress and improvements over the years were designed to assist the public and preserve the history of V.I., citing examples of brittle and torn land maps n the Cadastral office.
