March 15, 2007 — St. Croix top thoroughbred Carson Secrets returns to the track on Sunday after running second to Gin’s Dancer, the surprise winner of last race day’s feature, the Agriculture Fair Stakes.
Secrets will be matched in the 7/1-2 furlongs race with local speedsters Preceptor and Danzig Mon; closer Gallego, and newcomer to V.I. racing, Strong Passer. The featured seventh race features a $4,000 purse.
Gallego has beaten Carson Secrets in the past and so has Preceptor, but right now the Stanley Acoy-trained chestnut gelding appears to be on top of his game. So the rest of the field will have to "come real good" to beat him on Sunday.
However, as was seen in the Agriculture Fair Stakes, on any given day the best can be beaten and that's why the race is run.
The unknown element in the race will be Stronger Passer because, at this moment, only his handlers knows his running style and what he is capable of. He will, however, enter the starting gates with the top weight and what he has or doesn't have will be on full display when those gates open on Sunday in the seventh.
