3 MORE NOMINATIONS FROM TURNBULL

After serving as acting director of the Internal Revenue Bureau since last summer, Louis Willis was nominated Tuesday by Gov. Charles Turnbull to head the agency permanently.
Turnbull also forwarded to the Legislature the nomination of Austin Andrews as executive director of the V.I. Lottery and Nathan Simmonds as director of the Office of Fiscal and Economic Recovery Implementation.
Willis has worked in IRB as an internal revenue officer for 17 years. He was made acting director after former IRB Director Claudette Farrington was unceremoniously removed from the post by Turnbull last July.
Willis holds a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Morgan State University in Baltimore, Maryland.
Andrews has worked for the V.I. government for more than 30 years. Most recently he was the coordinator of plants and facilities and emergency services coordinator at the Department of Labor. Andrews also taught and held various positions in the Department of Education.
Turnbull said he has confidence in the nominees. He said Willis has "proven ability to manage and produce" while Andrews has the experience and background to manage the Lottery efficiently and effectively.
Simmonds is a former Legislative post auditor who most recently served as chief of staff to Lt. Gov. Gerard Luz James II. He will be in charge of putting into place measures detailed in the Five Year Operating and Strategic Financial Plan.
