CZM DECISION ON POND BAY PLAN TO COME IN 2 WEEKS

The St. John Coastal Zone Management Commission has delayed its decision, originally scheduled for Friday, on an application for a $27 million Pond Bay development.
CZM chairman and St. John Administrator Julien Harley said the decision will come in about two weeks, according to a report in the Virgin Islands Daily News.
At a hearing last month that drew at least 100 people, a number of testifiers expressed concerns about the density of the development and its effect on infrastructure and the environment. Initial plans call for 62 apartments in 22 buildings on a 13-1/2 acre parcel of land.
Some of those in attendance fear the project of First American Development Group/Carib Limited Partnership would rival the Westin and Caneel Bay resorts in size and impact.
