April 4, 2002 – They were standing in line waiting for the microphone at last weekend's "Friday Night Alternative" — jazzy "Jus' Cynthia" Saunders, who's back visiting on island, Lynette Oliver, Lee Goldberg, "and many of our regular Friday night gang," organizer Corinne Van Rensselaer said.
That would include keyboard/vocals artist Sally Smith, Marty Beechler and Joan Bennett, among others.
With Smith as anchor, the entertainment will gear up again Friday "from 6 to 8-ish p.m." on the Marlin Deck outside The Color of Joy in the American Yacht Harbor complex in Red Hook.
The public is welcome — there's not only no cover but also complimentary wine, cheese and crackers. And, of course, the live music. Inside the Color of Joy art gallery and boutique, there will be the usual opportunities to support the "FNA" phenom, by buying T-shirts and tickets for this month's piece of art to be raffled the last Friday of the month.
