IT'S GOOD TO HAVE CHOICES FOR INTERISLAND TRAVEL

Dear Source,
Transportation between our four islands is important. We need multiple methods and multiple carriers.
I have traveled by ferry, seaplane and airplane, and there is a time and place for each of them. The transportation keeps getting less expensive and more reliable.
The recent addition of inexpensive boats between St. Thomas and St. Croix has been a real boon. I hope that residents and tourists alike will take advantage of the growing number of choices to travel between the islands. Tourists need to see all three islands, and now it is easy and inexpensive. We residents have friends and family on "the other island" … now we can afford to visit! And there are always cultural, sports, and shopping opportunities to be taken advantage of when we are willing to make the trip across the water.
It's tough for these ferry companies to get started in business with the irregular, pulsed demand for travel. I hope that we all will think of an excuse to travel across the water soon. We'll be sending a message to these businesses that we appreciate their service.
